The Invisible
© by Forest Ang
The mortuary van had just arrived. The dead body was left hurriedly at the funeral parlour next door. The hospital staffs quickly drove off. Everything was quite again.
It was about 3am in the morning. Everybody was asleep. My friend was to make sure the candle was lit. He was reading newspaper. Occasionally he had his eyes at his mother's coffin next door to check the candle.
The candle was about to diminish. The body left at the funeral parlour was unattended. No family member was around to attend to the dead body.
It was chilling. Cold breeze would swept through the corridor.
Slowly my friend stood up. Walked toward his mother's coffin. He had to cross the dead body that was left without a coffin.
He had only made a few steps, but could not move. He was blocked. Blocked by something invisible.
"I am trying to move to my mother's coffin. I want to light the candle. She is my mother. I mean no harm" said my friend. For a moment, he was freezed.
And then he was able to move. To move to light the candle.
Do you have any strange and true stories to share? Write in and I will post it on this website.
Take care!
