Hill Spirit

It was a usual Gunung Tahan training. I led a group to explore an abandoned trail from Summit Road to Botanic Garden-Western Hill trail.
We finished the training at about 4pm at Penang Hill. We hurriedly went to the tea kiok at Penang Hill. We order our ice-kacangs.
The air was cool. My shirt was still soaked with sweat. The ice-kacang came. I had a few scoop of the ice-kacang.....a gust of breeze swept through.... and then I quivered. Shaken to the bone.
The ice-kacang tasted sooo COLD. I felt a little fever. I bit goodbye with my friends and went home. The journey home was terribbly getting colder and colder. Yes, I got fever.
The next two days, I kept popping paracetamol from the local clinic. The fever subsided for a couple of hours and it returned. Sensing that I was not able to eat and the continuing high fever, I was admitted to a hospital.
Syringe after syringe of blood were taken from me for the lab tests. Malaria - negative. Typhoid - negative. And even AIDS were tested but negatives. Can't eat and the drawing of blood made me weak. I was weak and unable to stand properly.
My mother gave me all sort of herbal drinks but to no avail.
Quietly she went to see a medium to seek the occult. I was given a drink from burnt talisman. A few talisman were put under my pillow. An offering was made on the carpark of the hospital facing Penang Hill. Food and fruits were laid on the ground. Josssticks and paper money were burnt to please the spirit. All these were done facing the direction of Penang Hill.
Strangely, the next day I woke up without fever. I have the strength to walk. I could eat. I took a bath and was discharged. When I asked the doctor about the cause of my sickness, he said "some mysterious unknown virus".
Today, I still wonder what mysterious virus was that.
Touchwood: If you ever has sickness befall on you after a jungle stint, and there seem to be no result from modern medication then you should seek second opinion. The occult science. Beware, there are scams in the occult world too.
Take care!
