Headline : Dead fish were found floating at Weld Quay, Penang.

Where: Weld Quay is the enclave near the ferry terminal on the Penang Island. There are many houses on silts. Sanitary and waste disposals have been a concern to nature.

The paper (The Star, 18 Jan 2007) reported that “Not even crows are drawn to the thousands of dead fishes, prawns and crabs found along the shores of Weld Quay here”. “Crows which are usually seen pecking on dead fishes and other animals are not feasting on these seafood”, added the paper.

When somebody from a reputable institution made a statement and then turnaround to dispute later; don’t you want to speculate the reasons for the action?

There was this story about a bomoh (a witch) at Weld Quay. He called out to all the dead fishes, dead prawns, dead crabs and dead what-i-don’t-know.

Bomoh : Hi dead fishes, dead crabs and dead what-i-don’t-know….wake up and I want to speak to you.

(Suddenly, the sea turned misty and flashes of white clouds forming…and….)

Dead fish : Yes, brader, what do you want from us?

Bomoh : Ok, I want to know why you are all sooo very stupid. Knowing that you can’t breathe properly but you just sit there and “sang see”(waiting to die)! Why do you not swim out into the open sea and get all the oxygen.

Dead crab : Dai, don’t call us stupid ok. You humans are the worst predators! You all treat us like shit! You shit into the water and I have to eat your shit! Then you threw a bottle of ….I am not sure what…but it could be cyanide. There was no escape. Every one of us who came into contact with the poison was blinded by it.

Sea snail : It was sooo fast! We could not run fast enough. We were all blinded. We suffered 24 hours with pain. We eventually die. I hope the one that threw the poison will one day die terribly like us.

Bomoh : But our fishery expert did not find any traces of poison in your dead bodies.

Dead prawn : Stupid punya orang. We didn’t consume poison lah. If we had then you can find the poison in our bodies. By the time you people found us, the poison had already diluted in the salt water and the tide would have taken it out into the ocean.

1. Somebody threw poison beneath his/her silted house.
2. Someone was trying to cover up the story – yunno lah this is a Visit Our Country Year, must not write anything bad of our country. Or you kena ISA or lately the C4.
3. The fishes are stupid. Why didn't they swim out into the open sea.

I choose No 3 – The fishes are stupid!!! How about you? I want to hear your comment.

Hi Forest,
I think the fish are stupid too. Eat our shit, drink our urine, absorb our dangerous chemicals, peep at our videos ( and get red eyes) and after all that serve their flesh for us to feast upon. But we are more stupid - eat our own shit, drink our own urine and vote for useless politicians into power year after year.
